Im sick of AIDS/HIV being used in movies for shock value. Or even worse as a lesson or consequence for “bad” behavior.

A couple weeks ago I was in class cramming for my Quran midterm while all the honors college trolls were freaking out cause the format of the test was open ended and they’re not used to that and blah blah blah

Anyways it’s pretty well known I’m one of the only Religion majors in class so two of them asked for help and I gave them the idea to compare temptation stories between the quran and the bible. They weren’t familiar with the bible so I gave them a pretty in depth breakdown of the two stories and where they match up, differ, etc.

Didn’t one of them the next week take my lil 5 minute lesson and turn it into her semester presentation and basically regurgitated exactly what I said to her the week prior with the bible/quran verses to back it up.

I mean I wasn’t planning on doing that for my presentation anyway but  the nerve. Heifer didn’t even thank me afterwards.

when guys do stupid and flashy things to get attention from girls no one bats an eye. “boys will be boys.” people eem try to bring science and evolution into it: that’s what their supposed to be doing., that’s what our ancestors did, etc. no one looks down upon machismo in order to get women. it’s encouraged.

but the moment a girl actively seeks attention from guys she’s desperate and an attention whore and every other name in the book.

i guess the point is don’t seek attention but always be gracious when you receive it or else you’re an ugly bitch and he ain’t really want you no way.

Just because you aren’t white doesn’t mean you’re black. Doesn’t mean you and I have the same exact experience in this country. and it for damn sure doesn’t give you the right to use the word nigga. Please never forget it.

This misconception has nonblack POC from the suburbs appropriating our language with convenient uses of Ebonics, styles of dress, etc. because in their minds not being white gives them unrestricted access to our culture.

I think it’s really fucked up that there’s a still shot from a movie floating around where a boy who looks barely 11 is having sex with a grown ass woman and half the comments underneath are crude.

I think there’s a big group of men who’ve had inappropriate things (ie molestation/statutory rape/rape) happen at extremely young ages but because of our culture are made to feel as though it’s something to be proud of. There are little boys out here losing their virginity before they reach their double digits. To babysitters and caregivers and it’s terrible.

People like to discuss the hypersexuality that sometimes occurs with female survivors but I wonder if a young boy’s sudden hypersexuality is even noticed after. Hell it’s probably chalked up to “boys will be boys” and left alone.
